WHO SHOULD HAVE WON AT THE BRITS?

brit awards, david guetta, ed sheeran, ella eyre, first aid kit, foxes, galantis, george ezra, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, imagine dragons, marina and the diamonds, phillip phillips, tiësto, twin atlantic, years & years

Obviously, all the artists that won did so deservedly apart from One Direction, sorry. However, I can’t help but feel as if some musicians that weren’t nominated should have won, or those that were nominated but lost should have won. If I haven’t mentioned a category it’s because I agree with the outcome. Here’s my verdict:

1. International Group

Winner: Foo Fighters
Should have won: First Aid Kit
Should have been nominated: Galantis, Imagine Dragons

I love First Aid Kit, I love Foo Fighters, but it would have been great if First Aid Kit won. They’re so talented and atmospheric. Galantis are a little less well-known, but their song Runaway is one that I always play at a party, or even when I’m out and about because it just makes me feel upbeat. Imagine Dragons? I mean, do I really need to explain?

2. British Video

This category seemed to be more about getting publicity for the Brits through social media than anything else, with the general public being made to vote through Twitter with a good old hashtag. The videos nominated were simple and uncreative. I’m sure they were chosen on the basis of popularity and the size of their fanbase, which thus leads to awareness of The Brits. 😦
Winner: One Direction – You And I
Should have won: Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
Should have been nominated: Foxes – Holding Onto Heaven, Ella Eyre – Comeback, Years & Years – Take Shelter

3. British Single

Winner: Mark Ronson Ft. Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk
Should have won: George Ezra – Budapest
Should have been nominated: Ella Eyre – Comeback, Twin Atlantic – Heart and Soul

4. British Breakthrough Act

Winner: Sam Smith
Should have won: CHVRCHES/George Ezra
Should have been nominated: Foxes
Yes, technically Foxes would have been nominated for the 2014 awards, but she did so well in 2014 and really became a chart topping artist so suddenly. She was even in Doctor Who. I mean come on. DOCTOR WHO. CHVRCHES were also nominated and they’ve been around for ages, but they really achieved success in 2014.

5. International Male Solo Artist

Winner: Pharrell Williams 😦 😦
Should have won: Hozier
Should have been nominated: Tiësto, David Guetta, Phillip Phillips

Predictions for next years nominees and winners:

Marina and the Diamonds
Florence and the Machine
Kodaline
Blur
Palma Violets
CHVRCHES
HAIM
Adele
Ellie Goulding
Kanye West
That’s all.
Bye for now.

ACTRESSES I WANT TO SEE PLAY SUPER-HEROINES

anna camp, anna kendrick, charlize theron, dc, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, jenna coleman, kat dennings, list, lupita nyong'o, marvel, mila kunis, natalie dormer, rachel weisz, superhero, superheroine, zooey deschanel

With a huge amount of female superheroes in Marvel/DC comics, I’m going to be exploring actresses who have the acting ability and suitability to play a super-heroine. Considering this, we should probably remember the lack of female heroes represented in superhero films, even with characters such as Black Widow, Gamora, Storm, Kitty Pride and soon-to-be Scarlet Witch, Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel… so who do I think could play characters such as She-Hulk, Spider Woman, Captain Marvel and Mantis. Likewise with my ‘actors I want to see play superheroes’, I won’t go into specific characters, but focus on who I’d simply like to see play a super-heroine.

1. Charlize Theron

2. Amanda Seyfried

3. Jenna Coleman

4. Kat Dennings

5. Mila Kunis

6. Lupita Nyong’o

This is a strange little post, but here are 10 actors I would like to see play a superhero (Marvel/DC only). No specifics. I just think they’d do it well, based on acting ability and suitability. Watch out for another post about actresses I want to see play a super-heroine.

TOP 6 HARRY POTTER BADDIES

bellatrix lestrange, death eaters, dolores umbridge, fenrir greyback, Geek, harry potter, hogwarts, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, lord voldemort, lucius malfoy, narcissa malfoy

Death Eaters, The Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts teachers… all have a bit of bad in them, some more than others. But, who are my top 6 Harry Potter villains?

1. Bellatrix Lestrange

It’s funny that I also really like Molly Weasley, who eventually killed Bellatrix. Bellatrix Lestrange is genuinely insane, sinister, and pure evil. She has nothing to hold her back, yet her obvious love for good old Voldemort is something she relies on, however creepy it is.

2. Dolores Umbridge

On Wednesday’s we wear pink

3. Lucius Malfoy

4. Fenrir Greyback

5. Nagini

OH HELL NO YOU NASTY SNAKE

6. Lord Voldemort

Bonus:
Narcissa Malfoy – Unsure if she’s actually a villain
But she’s great, and she ultimately saved Harry by declaring him dead even though he wasn’t. You go Narcissa.

MY TOP 10 ORDER OF THE PHOENIX MEMBERS: HARRY POTTER

bill weasley, fleur delacour, Geek, harry potter, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, kingsley shacklebolt, minerva mcgonagall, molly weasley, nymphadora tonks, order of the phoenix, rebeus hagrid, remus lupin, sirius black

The Order of the Phoenix were a secret society founded by good ol’ Dumbledore to fight against Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters. The order disbanded, and then returned in 1995 as a result of Voldemort’s return.

1. Nymphadora Tonks

Natalie Tena was brilliant as Tonks, despite only really having 10-15 lines in the whole film series. I loved Tonks in the books, she’s clumsy, youthful and funny. I was more upset over Tonks and Remus’ deaths in Deathly Hallows than Fred’s. *sigh* poor Teddy.

2. Molly Weasley

Molly Weasley, a loving, family-orientated mother who wouldn’t hurt a fly. And then….
BADASS MOLLY WEASLEY KILLS BELLATRIX LESTRANGE
Why? Because Bellatrix tried to kill Ginny, Molly’s daughter. YOU GO MOLLY DO YOUR THING.
Can we just watch this scene repeatedly for the rest of our lives?

3. Kingsley Shacklebolt

#sassykingsley

4. Remus Lupin

*werewolf noise*

5. Minerva McGonagall

“BOOM”

6. Sirius Black

“I DID MY WAITING! TWELVE YEARS OF IT! IN AZKABAN”
R.I.P Sirius Black

7. Arabella Figg

She kept an eye on Harry for all those years, even though she could have easily walked away, being a squib.

8. Rebeus Hagrid

Yer a wizard ‘arry

9. Fleur Delacour

“Arry, you saved my sister’s life. I do not forget.”

10. Bill Weasley

TOP 10 HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS: HOGWARTS STUDENTS

dean thomas, draco malfoy, Geek, ginny weasley, harry potter, hermione granger, hogwarts, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, lavender brown, luna lovegood, neville longbottom, ron weasley, seamus finnigan

Hello! This is the very beginning of a series of posts about Harry Potter, goodness. It’s half term, so I’ve gone full on Potter mode; watching the films, going on Pottermore, playing the video games, obsessing over merch online, crying over Dobby and Tonks, everything.

From Harry Potter himself, to Lavender Brown to Cho Chang, there are many students at Hogwarts. However, there are some that really stuck out for me. Even if they only had a couple of lines in a film, or a few mentions in the books, these are my top 10 Hogwarts students. My choices will be based on the film series, I may do a post another time based on the book series.

1. Luna Lovegood

Luna is great, she’s not afraid of what others think of her, she just does her own thing and does it happily. Also, that scene in Deathly Hallows where she gets angry at Harry because he’s ignoring her whilst looking for Rowena Ravenclaw’s lost diadem. Blimey. Evanna Lynch is brilliant.

2. Neville Longbottom

Neville is the underdog of the whole series, he spends his school years constantly being undermined and laughed at, and then BAMN Neville’s badass. I mean, he kills Nagini. I wouldn’t even look at Nagini, screw that. Nasty snake, oh hell no. You go Neville, YOU GO.

3. Hermione Granger

HERMIONE HERMIONE HERMIONE. Emma Watson is fab, she’s playing Belle in the new Beauty and the Beast film and HeForShe is such a wonderful project, but her portrayal of Hermione Granger was top notch. I loved it. Hermione is truly intelligent, passionate and dedicated. She could have easily walked away, with not being from a wizarding family and so, yet she continued to fight and stuck around. Plus, HERMIONE AND RON AW.

4. Katie Bell

This is a bit of bizarre one, albeit I would argue that Katie would be much higher up if I were judging on the books. But, Georgina Leonidas’ portrayal of Katie really got to me. I’m not sure if it was because I knew of the actress from her Basil Brush days (represent). Katie is friendly, kind, and very skilled. She’s just a good person.

5. Ron Weasley

Ron Weasley. That is all.
Clumsy, loveable, innocent. I have no words for the hero that is Ronald Weasley. Except, HERMIONE AND RON AW.

6. Draco Malfoy

Sinister, uptight, misunderstood. You kind of have to feel sorry for Draco, he just wanted to be accepted. Albeit, the wrong way to go about it, you know, becoming a death eater.

7. Lavender Brown

Jessie Cave did a wonderful job with Lavender, erratic, a bit loopy, and just fun. Again, likewise with Katie Bell, Lavender would probably be higher up in the list if I were judging this on the books. But seriously, Lavender was hilarious. But, in Deathly Hallows when she supposedly died, my heart broke. 😦
WON WON MISSES YOU LAVENDER.

8. Seamus Finnigan

In the words of the beloved McGonagall …
BOOM

9. Dean Thomas

Dean is the real MVP.
Grew up like Harry, but wasn’t as egotistical.

10. Ginny Weasley

Bonnie Wright is great, she was great at playing Ginny, just great. Ginny was powerful, caring and dedicated. Everything a powerful witch needs.
Honorary mentions
Padma and Parvati Patil
Harry Potter
Hannah Abbott
Pansy Parkinson
Cedric Diggory
That’s all.

SO NO ONE TOLD YOU LIFE WAS GONNA BE THIS WAY
*clap clap clap clap*

I’m taking the difficult task of ranking the primary Friends characters, and crying over it.
Not literally, it’s just a bit hard.

Three words to summarise Monica; Controlling, Innocent, Proud

HELLO

I’m feeling nostalgic today, so I thought I’d write a list of songs that are huge throwbacks. Some of these songs are even from 2010, but can we just consider that 2010 was 5 years ago, despite the fact it doesn’t feel like it. In my terms, I’m 17 now, I was 12/13 in 2010. That’s a hell of a throwback for me. Although, I guess it isn’t really a throwback, how do you define throwback? I don’t know. These are just songs that I remember vividly from my childhood.
Anyway, I’ll include a link to a Spotify playlist I made with a whole lot more songs.

1. American Boy – Estelle feat. Kanye West

2. Beautiful Girls – Sean Kingston

3. Don’t Stop The Music – Rihanna

4. I Gotta Feeling – The Black Eyed Peas

5. Breakaway – Kelly Clarkson

6. Low – Flo Ride feat. T-Pain

I’ll add some more songs in due time.
